There's something very special happening at Plug this Saturday. As usual LJ Freeman, Hallam Floorfillers, Tom Lee and Ollie Hayes will all be adding their glorious edge to the soundtrack of Saturdays in Sheffield, but one man is joining them who as quickly become a huge name in modern dance music. Known to his mother as Joel Zimmerman, the world knows him as the rapidly rising iconic superhero, Deadmau5.

DeadMau5 is a truly twenty first century phenomenon. Building a monolithic presence in such a short space of time, the Canadian producer has seen him go from a relative unknown on the underground scene in 2006 to a bona fide star two years later, truly defining the way in which downloads can push music and the makers behind them. His productions ‘The Reward is Cheese, ‘Faxing Berlin' and ‘Not Exactly' have drawn upon house, trance, electro and techno, uniting the djs from each ilk and destroying their prejudices at the same time. Who else can lace the dubbed out disco workouts from François K at the same time as defining Tiesto's stadium pummelling exercises, and skirt all the DJs in-between?

This genre bending profusity is a key element of the Dedadmau5 live show, which sees him sporting the eerily cartoonish Mouse head that sits like an uneasy marriage of Ren & Stimpy and Donnie Darko. As the boundaries between live performance and DJs have become blurred, Josh has pushed the limits back to what people expect from dance music in a club, a bold statement of intent of what the rave will become. A recent interview saw him proclaiming the end of the age of the DJ, promising a new era of entertainment in modern clubs that would completely move forward from the stagnant production and staid drama of the past.

This tour is the start of that new age. Catch him while you can.
