/// Clement Marfo & The Frontline
The charismatic Clement Marfo is quickly proving to be one of the hottest new talents to hit the British scene. Clement, has established himself as a truly experimental artist who is unique in his style of lyrical delivery.
Born to Ghanaian parents and raised in South London, Clement is noted as a passionate recording artist whose conscious song writing skills reflect a mature outlook on reality, blending well with his evident sense of humour and positive, uplifting personality.
Clement makes choices of creativeness and innovative actions, encouraging him to be confident in his own original style. Clement is dedicated in voicing his opinion on worldwide issues, further more he has become a voice for many adolescents who experience or share the same views on various matters. ‘Aspire not to have more but to be more’ (Archbishop Romero), these wise words were of great inspiration to Clement and his aim in life to be more, through endurance and fortitude.
Clement’s dynamic performing qualities as well as his unique style clearly stems from his wide range of musical influences, which span from both the US and UK. They range from the likes of Slick Rick, Wyclef Jean, Tina Turner, JAY Z, Daft Punk, and Kanye West to home grown talent such as Annie Lennox, Phil Collins, Craig David, Ms’ Dynamite, Ashley Walters, and Dizzee Rascal. As a result of his prominent creativity, Marfo’s specialities lie in his song writing ability.
From Hip Hop and Indie to Electro, Rock and Soul; such genres encourage him to broaden his lyrical context, allowing him to reach a wider audience, especially being raised within such a multi-cultural environment.
Clement Marfo is currently working alongside producer, James Toone (2ne), composer of Clement Marfo's first project ‘Fresh Starts'. Their close relationship has enabled the two to create commercial material which has influenced their vision on working closely with a live band in order to bring depth to the live performances.
At present, Marfo is working closely with a seven piece band ‘The Frontline' and this collaboration has significantly added a new dimension to his music.
Together Clement Marfo & the Frontline exhibit a fusion of musical styles, with the fundamental style of Hip Hop, being incorporated with supporting styles of Rock, Indie, Soul, and Funk. This unique blend of upbeat, colourful music has created a refreshing mix that appeals to the mainstream world.
It is evident that a live band can add that ‘extra' slice of impact to any performance and in the case with up and coming UK Hip Hop artist Clement Marfo, this statement rings through with truth. The desire was always there from Clement himself, to enhance his already energetic live performance with a band, allowing him to connect with the music fully and bring out the best of his musical talent. However when this desire became reality, I think it would be fair to say nobody involved in the project and moment could of predicted how well this group of individuals have grown together, musically and personally in such a short space of time.
Dion Payne who plays Drums, was the first member to hook up with Clement being introduced by a close friend and through connections and chance, they teamed up to bring the fellow members; Stacey, Dan, Kojo, Jonny and Rich swiftly to form the collective.
It is simply not possible to explain the vibe these talented young individuals transmit on stage and through their music, but giving the extremely variety of influences which fuel each member, the final product which is created could be described as a fruitful, colourful ‘concoction' of several genres! From Rock, Hip Hop, Funk, Pop to Jazz, the blend and mixture of styles and influences is easily noticeable when watching Clement and the guys perform. Not only has the variety of the band's influences progressed one another, but has helped Clement himself to broaden his musical horizons and to sum it up simply, create a product which is new, fresh, exciting and most importantly unique.
The progress the band and Clement have made in the past 6 months has been incredibly impressive taking into account no external professional partners have been involved.
Expect to feel a rush of energy and a specific genuine mixture of music when they perform live.
