/// Ellen and the Escapades

Winners of Glastonbury's Emerging Talent contest this band's career is set to take off.

Leeds based Ellen and the Escapades are finding themselves firmly at the front of the alt-folk wave, currently sweeping the UK and beyond. Amongst their influences they cite legend’s such as Neil Young and Fleetwood Mac, as well as more contemporary acts such as Ryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne, to name but a few.

Debut Single “Without You” attracted plaudits and the attentions of both local and national radio stations and anticipation and expectations are growing ahead of the first Ellen and the Escapades EP, due out early this summer.

The band spent the summer months playing festivals in the UK and completed their first mini European tour, before returning to the UK to perform on the prestigious BBC Introducing stages at Leeds and Reading Festivals.
Summer 2010 is shaping up to be a great one for the band, with festivals apperances at already booked for Glastonbury, Larmer Tree, Beverley Folk Festival, Live at Leeds and Moor Music Festival.

With a new release on the way and an ever expanding diary, it’s looking like a good year for Ellen and the Escapades.

Chris Salmon - The Guardian
These Leeds folk-popsters recently won Glastonbury festival's 2010 new bands contest. You can hear why: this gorgeous self-released single showcases a band with a fine line in bittersweet melodies whose eponymous frontwoman soothes your ears with her soft, Yorkshire lilt. Definitely one to watch.

Jumbo Records - Leeds
The spotlight is well and truly on this band at the moment, with some great interest from Radio Two and Six and some top tour supports their time has finally come...The single is a beautiful combination of husky delicate female vocals married to a most marvellous instrumentation...It's part folk, part country and part indie so basically a great crossover record (Jools Holland awaits i suspect). Impressive stuff indeed and it also comes with a gorgeous hand-stitched sleeve. Very Recommended summery release.

Pure Groove Records - London
Winner of the nicest packaged record of the week - this comes in a hand stitched cover and it's lovlier than tea in the morning. The record is a charming little country number too - a slice of good time songwriting that's an antidote to most of the humdrum miserable stuff around at the moment.

Art Goes Pop Records
Coming from an almost invisible acoustic scene the spotlight well and truly shines finally on this great leeds band... Its a combination of catchy tunes delicate female vocals, that hark a wonderful husky quality and some feisty upbeat backing. this is pretty much the total package, great enough to cross over to the mainstream. Already very recommended.
