Exlovers
Exlovers have announced they will be releasing their new 5-track EP 'You Forget So Easily' on 14 September, 2009 through Chess Club Records (Boy Crisis, Mumford and Sons, White Lies). The EP will be released on specially created 10" vinyl with beautiful artwork, maintaining the band's impeccably high-standard. 'You Forget So Easily' was recorded with Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, Peter Doherty), who approached the band after seeing them supporting Peter Doherty at Shepherds Bush Empire for an NME Awards show.
The release of the new EP will follow on from recent singles 'Photobooth', released through Young and Lost Club, and 'Just A
Silhouette', also released through Chess Club Records. Both were widely lauded and proved mainstays at radio, with 'Photobooth' being made Steve Lamacq's single of the week on BBC 6Music. Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens have also been giving the band support on Radio 1, and XFM and 6 Music both added exlovers to their daytime playlists.
The new EP shows exlovers' developing their own brand of indie-pop, laden with close boy-girl harmonies throughout. From the wistful delicacy of 'The Moon Has Spoken', to the jangly indie-pop of title-track 'You Forget So Easily' and dream-pop of single 'Just A Silhouette'; and from the more intimate, Elliot Smith-esque vocals on 'New Years Day', to the racing pulse of 'Incomplete'; the songs all feature exlovers' inherent style of combining sweetly sombre lyrical musings with lo-fi guitars, ever-developing vocal harmonies and subtle instrumental discord to stunning effect.
The band's relentless touring schedule has seen them complete recenttours with Emmy The Great, Golden Silvers, Pete And The Pirates and The Cheek (Formally Cheeky Cheeky And The Nosebleeds), as well as NME Awards Shows with Peter Doherty, who they will be supporting once again in September. They are now in the midst of a summer full of festivals, including
performances at Glastonbury, Isle of White and Secret Garden Party. Exlovers have also been added to France's prestigious Inrocks tour, an annual tour showcasing the best in new music, likened to being the NME of France.
