Darke Horse's rollercoaster ride to the here-and-now started at the end of 2008 in Sheffield, after friends Simon Kaviani, Chris Gill, Joe Pearson and Jonno Lodge resolved to bring entertaining rock back into the mainstream. Little did they think that the following six months would take from the humble surroundings of the back of a cushion factory to the middle of a recording studio with local producer legend Alan Smyth.

The Sheffield foursome, who are releasing Flat Screen Suicide via Noise Control Records, are already starting to get tongues wagging. Their first review in Sandman, describes Darke Horse's demo as a "barnstorming effort from the Sheffield foursome," with Flat Screen Suicide hailed "a funky slab of unadulterated fun." It's no wonder then that BBC Radio on their 'Raw Talent' programme told listeners that Darke Horse could be one of the bands to break through big in 2009...

Simon Kaviani has also been voted as best guitarist in the national 'Rock Idol' competition and his song 'Vein of Wrath' won the Riffathon songwriting competition, a competition set up by Jimmy Page and Brian May in 2006.
