Plug Soundclash: The Hosts + Seven Hills + Chatfield + Simple Delivery
2008 was a hectic year for The Hosts, they managed to to release their first single ‘Wake Up' on their own Not 38 label, receiving their first radio plays in the UK - Radio 1, 6 music and xfm all supporting the band. They completed 4 support tours in the UK, touring with; Clocks, The Walkmen (US), Cold War Kids (US) and Paul Weller. The Weller shows were his first ever Arena gigs which then finished with 3 sold out Brixton Academys. The band also played O2 festival and numerous one off shows including ones in their home town, Sheffield. The highlight of the year was to perform at CMJ festival in New York ; from which they received their first US radio with the notorious Denis The Menace being the first to play the band on KUST San Fransisco, closely followed by John Richards cult show on KEXP seattle. The band were also the first band to be featured on the JD set on Channel 4 which has now been aired 3 times. The guest presenter was Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers and he asked them to perform the classic ‘No More Heroes' with him - this was also broadcast. During their time in the States the band recorded their new single - ‘Kissing The Gunners Daughter' which they mixed in Olympic with Neil Coomber The single will be released late March/April and will be followed with a UK tour and a number of selected festivals in UK and Europe. In the meantime, lead singer Tom has been asked to put 2 vocals on DJ Zebra's much anticipated album in France. Zebra is a well known DJ on Virgin FM in Paris and has a wide following throughout the country and has been a fan of Tom's singing from day 1.
