If theirs one underlying theme at this Saturday's gig, it's the unadulterated Filth. House music has taken a turn for the dirty in the last few years, and is all the better for it. A genre once dominated by rolling basslines and wailing divas, now it's littered with huge synth riffs, murky beats and a sex drenched manifesto. Jack's got his clothes dirty.
And if to prove this, we've assembled a line-up of the best UK talent to showcase exactly where the genre is heading and why it's so glorious. Topping the bill is our own LJ Freeman, Sheffield's quintessential house music hero who knows how to rough things up a bit on account of his previous career as a rugby league player. Next up is Filthy Rich, who if his name didn't put the manifesto forward enough, can count residencies at Kissdafunk, Gatecrasher Discotheque and Neighbourhood under his belt. He's already played alongside the likes of Roger Sanchez, Mylo, Groove Armada and Derrick Carter and has released tunes on Seamus Haji's Big Love imprint, rapidly becoming a star du jour for the UK's scene.
The south is represented by Filthy Funk Funk, the djing duo who have revitalised non London clubbing south of Watford Gap through their Erotique promotion. Now Plug residents after their blistering debut, they bring a completely different vibe to proceedings with some arcane technical wizardry which promises off the fly edits, live remixes and a distinctly unique take on the formula.
Dj electro Nympho also understands the power of swinging from the
gutter, her proficiency in generating dancefloor dirt cemented through
her residency at Sankeys. Counting Dennis fererr, Steve angello, Mickey
slim and Erick morillo among the high profile guests she's spinned
besides, her ability to rock crowds in undiminished.
Tom Lee and Dan Norris back up with their indie and party classics in the other two rooms.
