Detonate's May party comes swaggering into focus for a bank holiday bonanza. One more the musical focus is split, detonate providing their own crushing deebee mandate and enlisting the talents of Dark Crystal to broadcast their own bleak musical vision side by side. This makes for a devilishly dark party, showcasing the rave noir in bloodcurdling style for a refreshing antidote to the sunshine effected club scene that envelops clubland as the summer beckons.

Headlining this is DJ Friction. Currently the hottest property in drum'n'bass circles, he has had an amazing year - he is challenging for "Best Drum'n'Bass DJ" in every award ceremony, has his 1Xtra radio show, runs his own label, and was the fourth highest placed drum'n'bass DJ in DJ magazine's world DJ placings 2004. Despite being perceived as a newcomer he's already showed signs of longevivity in the game, making his name known as a future legend. Shy FX have already attained that status, crashing into the top ten with his improbable fusion of drum n bass and the Sex & the City theme tune and representing the music as it developed through hardcore, jungle and as the music stands now. Few are better at delivering what the scene's crowds crave. Detonate stalwarts Icicle, Transit Mafia and MC E-LL

Dark Crystal are representing as well, showcasing their murky vision of the dubstep phenomenone. Headlining is Loefah, without a doubt a bastion of the genre. His contributions to the DMZ imprint could be considered key moments in the music's evoloution, whilst his remixes for Skream (on Tempa) and his recent Tectonic outing only serve to enforce this belief. Bass remains the central tenet, his bass excursions not venturing into the wibbly wobbly sub-aquatic realms favoured by his peers, instead shattering the listener's rib cage with frequencies that could be used by French riot police. Deadman, Rogue State and the monipresent Junglist Alliance MCs support.
