It's bank holiday season and as a consequence it's inflicted Plug with a sense of sunshine and cheer. The guests for this week's live shenanigans at Shuffle are two bands that have managed to infuse their rowdy music with the feel-good strains of the summer, allowing the brightness of heat and euphoria to radiate their tunes. Cheeky interpolators of a cross section of different musics, it's a tag team offering that is sure to entertain.
Headlining are Iglu & Hartly, the Californian five piece whose unashamedly pop songs are laced with a wide variety of influences tailor made to induce dancing amongst the audience. The sound of frat parties exploding into the charts, their heady mix of 80s influenced snyth pop, new wave, Hip-Hop, disco and half sung half rapped vocals ensures a stunning rapport with the audience and party manifesto hurling from the off. The show stealers at SSXW, a ten date tour of the UK publicise the glorious new single ‘Young and Violent', and with support slots for the Wombats and clamouring label attention, they remain a mere step away from superstardom. http://www.myspace.com/igluandhartly
They're joined by local heroes Paddy Orange, the group centred on the talismanic presence of charismatic front man Orange. Orange has had constant comparisons drawn to The Streets and Shaun Ryder, his street poetics lined with house, hip-hop and indie touches. Their music really is a feat to be experienced live, Orange duetting alongside Sophie Bramley-West whilst the band experiments with bass, turntables and drums behind for a rambunctious musical collage. www.myspace.com/thepaddyorangeproject
