Plug's Birthday sold out in record time this year, all the tickets flying through the doors seven weeks before the show! Consequently the Sheffield powerhouse didn't want to leave any further clubbers disappointed and has come up with a crafty scheme to ensure that a few more party fanatics can scramble their way into the biggest event of the year for the Steel City.
Once Reverend and the Makers have finished we will be opening the doors to clubnight go-ers and a limited number of tickets will be available for those who want to attend the clunight. And as such a staggeringly good draft of talent has been added to the bill to keep those feet shuffling and boasting an extra clubnight to whet the palettes of the city.
Topping the list is none other than aussie electro stalwart Hook N Sling, whose high octane rush brand of dance music takes in everything from skittering breakbeats to synth heavy house beats. Revered at London's scene leading rave Chew the Fat, for which he recorded a superlative compilation last year, his sound is indicative of the fresh direction dance music constantly takes. Possessing the kind of dirty grooves that have ignited Shuffle's dancefloors throughout 2008, it's the perfect star to celebrate three years of house heaven for Plug.
Former Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson also plays, who since leaving the group has found significant fame as part of the Reverend Soundsystem DJ troupe that spawned the Birthday's headliners, The Reverend & the Makers, as well the other band to dominate proceedings for the birthday shebang Lords of the Flatbush. Add to that supergroup Mongrel, boasting members of Reverend & the Makers, Babyshambles and Nicholson's former Monkeys cohort Matt Helders, and he's a busy boy. His dancefloor telekinesis will be in full show this evening.
LJ Freeman and Tom lee show unflinching support.
