Brian Wilson (DJ Topgroove) is the owner and promoter for Uprising and Uprising Records
After watching the DMC mixing championships at the age of 12 the seeds of Brian's destiny in the music industry were firmly planted. Within a few years Brian turned what most saw as just a phase into what is now a career of over 20 years in the music industry. From playing at friends parties it was only a short time before Brian started organising his own parties. At 17 Brian along with his long time friend and now production/event manager started an under 18's event called Adrenalin which pulled in weekly attendances of over 800. When the venue closed Brian concentrated on the playing side of his career. Building on the reputation he had already gained from playing at his own events Brian went on to become resident at a number of renowned events in the area including Dizstruxshon and Doncaster warehouse which both had weekly attendances of over a thousand people. Along side his residencies Brian was invited to play at many of the other regular events in the midlands and north of England.
In 1992 Brian was recruited by a local club to resurrect its previously successful dance event which was beginning to fail and needed a new direction. Having turned the event around Brian continued to run this event until 1995 when he handed control of the event back to the club in order to pursue other opportunities.
One of the above opportunities was to become involved in Uprising at it's inception in January 1995. Starting as a resident DJ Brian gradually became more involved in the event ultimately leading to him taking ownership of the event and brand in 2001 having already spent the previous 2 years running the event. Since taking over the running of the event and then ownership Brian has changed the direction of Uprising from being what was a hobby event for friends to what is now a nationally recognised event with its loyal community of followers. While running Uprising Brian has also created One Vision Recordings for releasing his and other peoples Trance & Hardstyle with a lot of good feed back from the likes of Vinylgroover, BK, Ed Real and airplay from Dave Pierce on Radio 1. The One Vision brand has also become the 3rd Arena at Uprising's bigger nights with guest including Scott Project, Uber Druck, Jon The Baptist, Mark e.g and many others.
A typical Uprising event sees 18 year olds raving in the same building as their 38 year old parents - there isn't a social sector in dance music today who can say that!
Uprising is about the passion, music and people who commune together.
